Howdy!
Our World Food Day Dinner with Slow Food Madison was a
success! Around 80 UW Madison students and community members gathered to eat a
delicious meal and talk about our food system and poverty on October 15th
at the Crossing Church here in Madison.
The
menu included Apple-Pear Salad, Apple and Cheddar Corn Muffins, Spicy-butternut
squash and lentil soup, and Pear Crisp. MMMMM! This menu was chosen to follow the GROW method ideas
of buying local an fair trade, making use of in season food, and reducing
cooking time.
The
whole event was a lot of fun and it was excellent to work with the great people
of Slow Food and learn a little more about their organization.
Make
sure you check out their Family Dinner Nights- a family style meal featuring
local and seasonal food that is served every Monday during the school
year. You do need to RSVP, so be sure to go to their website and get on their mailing list. I know I’ll be attending
the dinner this next week!
Elise also spread the news about Oxfam at a hunger walk here in Madison on October 21, 2012. Great job, Elise!
Keep
doing your part, friends! Please
stay tuned for news about our upcoming Oxfam Hunger Banquet, and join us tonight
at the High Noon Saloon for our first concert outreach event- an evening with
David Wax Museum! The show is at 8 pm, but we will be hanging out starting at 7
pm.
Best,
Kat
