Madison Oxfam Action Corps has had a busy weekend! Saturday a group of us went to Second Harvest Food Bank to volunteer for a second time.  Good times were had by all and we managed to sorry through what seemed like a mountain of produce before our time was up there. Good work team! Chances are our next volunteer outing will be to spend a morning working in the Arboretum!

The fun didn’t stop as Elise and I traveled to Milwaukee bright and early on Sunday morning to the National-International Urban & Small Farm Conference put on by Growing Power Milwaukee and a host of other great organizations. There we spread the word about the GROW Campaign, as well as listened to some inspiring speakers discuss the future and past of our food system. There was a huge emphasis on the importance of the youth in this food revolution. It was inspiring to see so many interested in eager faces ready to make a difference in the way our country approaches food. The diversity of the conference also impressed me, as there seemed to be people in attendance representing many walks of life and ethnicities.  We are all in this together.

Later today I’ll be attending an orientation so that the Madison Oxfam Action Corps will be a fully registered student organization here at UW-Madison! This is exciting news because it gives us access to rooms in conveniently located buildings, as well as some other resources and possibly funding. I cannot wait to see what comes of this!

We've got some exciting collaborations in the works, so hopefully we'll have some exciting announcements for you all later this week!
