I just noticed that this entry never got posted for some reason. After some delay...
Madison Oxfam Action Corps has had a busy couple of weeks between planning our Hunger Banquet, holding the Hunger Banquet, and tabling at DJ Shadow's show!
Thanks to everyone involved in making out Hunger Banquet happen, and thanks to those that attended. In particular, thanks to Fresh Madison Market for their food contribution and to The Crossing Church for letting us use their awesome space. Also, thanks to Slow Food UW Madison for their assistance with some kitchen logistics.
On November 29, 2012 we gathered in the lower level of the Crossing church for the Hunger Banquet. Here, we learned about the realities of how easy it is to fall into poverty- and some things that we can do to help people rise out of it. We heard moving stories and discussed what poverty and how it affects us all. It was a great experience.
The next Thursday, December 6th, 2012. Oxfam representatives tabled at DJ Shadow's show here in Madison. Many good conversations were had and the music was excellent. I even got to meet DJ Shadow (below), a personal favourite. Boy, was I excited!
