Hello!
Brrr! It’s getting chilly out there! This means that the fall is fast approaching and we here at Madison Oxfam Action Corps will have plenty of ways you can help to create a world where no one goes hungry.
Our next outing is another trip to Second Harvest Food Bank, since the last one was so much fun! Please join us on September 8th from noon-3 pm to help those in need right here in Madison. Please email us if you would like to attend. It is important that we have a good estimate of our numbers so that Second Harvest can properly accommodate us.
We will also be hosting a super fun potluck on October 16th for World Food Day, so get excited! We will share recipes, watch a short film, and discuss ways that we can all be smarter consumers! More details to come.
Exciting news! Oxfam has officially launched its new GROW campaign! If you haven’t heard, this campaign is all about waking the world up to ways that individuals and communities can make a difference and fix our broken food system and empower impoverished communities to be able to feed themselves. There will be an estimated 9 billion people on the planet by 2050, and the GROW Campaign wants to make sure that our global society can feed all of those mouths.
Here is a little video summing up the GROW Campaign:

Little things can make a big difference- yesterday I bought Fair Trade coffee instead of regular and ate my yellow beans raw instead of cooking them to save energy. I even remembered to unplug my charger when my phone was done charging. It’s easy to make little changes that add up to make a big difference!
This weekend we’ll be tabling at the farmers market Saturday (Aug 11) morning, so be sure to stop by and say hi!
